1999-2000 Season

The wrestling team sent seven grapplers to the State Tournament.  Bart Guilbault placed 5th in the 112# weight class.  Also making a showing were Matt Vasquez @ 119#s, Scoott DeBlieux @ 125#s, Matt Wimprine @ 1345#s, Matt Cruser @ 152#s, Nicky Alford @ 160#s and Jedidiah Jackson @ Heavyweight.




       

The season began in early November with a tri-meet against John Ehret and Mandeville, where Matt Wimprine led the team with two pins.  Pinning one of their opponents were Matt Vasquez, Bart Guilbault, Scoot DeBlieux and Beau Cass.

Next, the boys took to the mats against John Curtis where most of the matches were won by forfeit except for Matt Wimprine's match in which he pinned John Curtis' Dustin Hertz.

In early December the team participated in two dual meets with Holy Cross and Jesuit.  Matt Wimprine led the team, defeating his Holy Cross opponent 8-2 and his Jesuit opponent 7-1.

Against Fontainebleau Matt Vasquez, Bart Guilbault, Scoot DeBlieux, Matt Wimprine and Brant Bosworth all pinned their opponents.

At the Brother Martin Invitational Tournament the team placed a respectful 13th place.

In the St. Paul's dual meet Matt Vasquez, Bart Guilbault and Matt Cruser pinned their opponents, and Matt Wimprime defeated his opponent.

In the Greater New Orleans Championships, De la Salle placed third overall, with Bart Guilbault pinning Jesuit's Richard Joint and Matt Wimprime defeating Jesuit's Kevin Reddman.

In the dual meet against Grace King DLS was led by Bart Guilbault's pin against Brad Aldrete in 42 seconds.  Scoot DeBlieux then pinned his opponent in a 4:29 match.  Matt Wimprine also defeated Paul Dugas.

Against Riverdale, Matt Vasquez defeated Mike Lachney in his match.
