John Ehret Varsity and Junior Varsity Tournaments

December 21st and 22nd, 2007, at John Ehret High School

John Ehret Varsity Tournament (December 22nd, 2007) 3rd Place Winner (@215#s) Ross Oliveri.

John Ehret Junior Varsity Place Winners (December  21st, 2007):

Brandon Belisle (2nd @ 145#s), Ryan Cremaldi (3rd @ 171#s) & Jacob Kornman (4th @ 140#s).

Four wrestlers, including three first-year wrestlers, took home "the hardware" from the John Ehret varsity and junior varsity tournaments.

In the varsity tournament, experienced senior Ross Oliveri (3-1) easily garnered his second 3rd place finish of the season at 215#s, winning three of his four matches with pins at 1:14 & 1:29 and a 9-4 decision.

In the junior varsity tournament:

Brandon Belisle (1-1) placed 2nd, participating in a three-wrestler round-robin at 145#s, comfortably beat his first opponent 12-7.  He lost his championship match 10-9, being awarded only a two-point reversal in the final seconds rather than what looked like a one-point escape and two-point takedown which would have sent the match into overtime.

Ryan Cremaldi (0-1) placed 3rd at 171#s, which is an odd record to have and still place.  But he was on the mat ready for his consolation finals match, and his opponent was not.

Jacob Kornman (3- 2) may have had the best day for the Cavaliers in the junior varsity tournament, placing 4th at 140#s.  He lost his first match 7-2, but then stormed back to win his next three matches in a pin at 0:53, a close 5-4 decision and an unexpected 4-2 decision over a wrestler who beat him 16-4 a week ago.  Jacob was comfortably ahead 6-3 in his match for third place, but then had a significant learning experience and finished 4th.

Robbie Evans also won a match for the Cavaliers.

Ross deciding he had tested his opponent enough and that it was time to pin him, which he did at 1:29.
