The 2007 Fontainebleau "Bulldog" Open. Over 270 wrestlers competed, including the first teams for Brother Martin, Jesuit, Rummel & Comeaux. Needless to say we faced some very stiff competition and Shawn, Mat and Brandon were competing in weight classes above what they will wrestle in state. But hopefully we learned valuable lessons even from our losses. With their backs to the camera are Brandon Belisle (maroon singlet & black shoes) and Coach Abbott (white shirt & blue jeans). |

| Brandon Belisle gets his first win of the season over an opponent from Slidell in the 152# weight class. Overall, Brandon was much better at keeping his base and his head "up" while on bottom, "riding hips" on top and displayed an awesome bridge. |

Picking an Most Valuable Wrestler (MVW) for this tournament was tough. Sean certainly merits it for his 3rd place finish. But his refusal to listen to himself and his coaches in his first round loss, and his stubborn determination to do an unnecessary Granby-roll tainted his chances. Brandon qualifies with his first win of the season, but that was accompanied by two losses. So I have to give it to Coach Martin's raffle prize:
Frosty the Snow Bong (OK - actually it is a candle holder).
